Rev. Bill Cochran discusses how an Interfaith ceremony works….

Planning your own wedding is certainly rewarding, but it can also drive you crazy. You can always get a wedding planner to help you out, but there’s nothing like planning your special day to a T, all on your own. It’s adventurous, not to mention the fact that you’ll save some good money in the process. This allows you to preserve your budget or spend some additional money on things that make the party truly better.

If you choose to take on the challenge yourself by taking matters into your own hands, here are some wedding planning tips tips that may help you:

1. Make a specific checklist.

It’s always handy to keep things organized when planning your wedding. With a checklist, you can easily see if you’ve missed out on something. This also helps you save on unnecessary expenses that people tend to overlook.

2. Prepare a contact sheet.

This list should contain the contact details of everyone involved in planning your wedding. It’ll be very handy during times that you and your partner will have to follow up on certain things.

3. Make a list of all the guests you plan to invite.

This will help you estimate how many guests you’ll need to prepare for during the event.

4. Make a budget for the event.

Include food, clothing, and decorations as well as other things you’ll need for the preparations. However, don’t forget to set aside some extra money for miscellaneous expenses.

5. Come up with a well-prepared program for the reception.

A reception isn’t just time to feed your guests. Keep them entertained by preparing a program. Be creative and make sure to make it memorable. After all, this is your special day and it only happens once.

Do Wedding Engagements Limit The Fun You Have?

Posted by Matt Liquori

There is a certain degree of fear in every single person when they think about wedding engagements. Just the sound of it gives me the chills. It’s the biggest dedication someone can make, it’s the rest of your life all in another person, it’s both exciting and the scariest thing I’ve ever heard of.

My biggest concern about tying the knot with someone is what happens to your social life after the dedication is made. I mean, I for one am an owl; I love to venture out and see night life. I love to see new people and be social in the most general sense of the word. Now, if and when I get engaged I’m going to have to give some of these lifestyles up, aren’t I?

Well, if you’re like me than you might be in luck, because I’ve been thinking in my head of different ways I could move my life forward while not completely giving up the things I love.

The way I figure it, a wedding engagement is the biggest thing to look forward to after you turn 21. Clearly you are going to want to find the right person, someone who is like you but different in a few ways, someone who will know you, have a lot in common with you. In my book this should consist of going out. I mean seriously, if you are someone who enjoys to go out than why would you want to end up with someone who isn’t into those things?

Now, I fully know that the older I get, the more I’m going to have to tone down on going out and being social until late night hours. However, for us that like to go out, there is a way to keep your night life fun even after your woman is done worrying about wedding dresses. I’ve learned from watching my parents that they continue to go out even though they have already seen 25 years of partnership, the key is timing. Going to concerts and art shows are things that will never get old to me, and all things that you can do with the person you love without having to stay out until all hours of the night.

Marriage is a very unique part of life and one that will bring about a lot of misunderstanding, at least for me. And if you are like me, than I hope this has been an insight to show you how to continue to live even after marriage.

The Right Way To Propose

Posted by Dutch Kiesecker

If you are fortunate enough to get to that stage with your lover in which you can see yourself marrying them, it’s a great sensation to have. All that is left to do is propose to her. Easy right? Believe it or not, how to propose can be a tricky thing. Remember you only get one proposal so it would be in your best interest to do it right and make it memorable yet still elegant. Although there are still a lot of people that go about the proposal in the incorrect way and fail epically.

If you do your research on how to propose you will see a lot of websites that explain what to do and what not to do when it comes to wedding proposals. It would be a good idea to read these sites have to say and take it all in. The last thing you want to do is mess up your wedding proposal because you only get to do this once. So do it right!

One great proposal thought is the classic dessert idea at a restaurant. Basically you make reservations to her preferred restaurant. When you order dessert, have the waiter carry the dessert with the ring hidden underneath the cover. Make sure the box is open for you to take the ring and have rose petals encompassing it. Now all that’s left is to “pop the question”.

This strategy works nearly every time and I can almost guarantee your girlfriend will say yes. When proposing you want to steer clear of making your girlfriend feel pressured to say yes. That is why you should avoid any proposal that involved you announcing it in front of family or friends. By doing this it’s like your forcing her to say yes because she doesn’t want to embarrass you.

A wedding proposal should be romantic and authentic. That’s why you should steer clear of cheesy wedding proposals also. You want to start your marriage process on the right foot. Remember you only get one likelihood to propose to your girlfriend, just as she has to pick from one of many wedding dresses. So make it count and make it a memorable one.

Most people fear that if they propose to their significant other that they are going to be turned down flat and get their heart and ego broken. It’s an even bigger fear than something going wrong and ceasing the relationship during the wedding engagement, or after the wedding itself. However, there is an unvoiced hero to some of these problems. A hero that, if employed, can almost guarantee that you will have a successful wedding engagement and that is a proposal planner.

A proposal planner is the wedding coordinator to the pre-engagement event; the proposal. They do all the grunt duty, from make the reservations to keeping an eye on the ring to recording the whole thing for you to keep as a record of the moment.

Now, some of you might be asking, “How does this get you a yes to the wedding engagement?” Well, the kind of wedding proposal they have planned, as long as you can pay for it, can be dazzling. However, they can also be a bit pricey, so please keep that in mind.

One of the stories of a professionally planned proposal involved a private island, horseback riding, candle lit dinner, roses, and a private jet. That was, of course, a costly proposal. A more reasonably priced story I’ve heard involved a park, a flash mob, the couple’s song, dinner, and flowers. Therefore, there is a wide diversity of proposal avenues you could choose from; those were only two examples.

If you’re still not convinced, then I believe you need to know two things. If your partner loves you, it really doesn’t matter if the proposal is over the top, as long as it planned out and thought about, they’ll be happy. However, it doesn’t hurt if it is also one of the best experiences they’ve ever had either. And if by some terrible twist of fate they say no anyway, then they never really loved you and it was their loss. They are still loads of fish in the sea.

The Best Looking Wedding Gown on TV

Posted by Amanda Basso

In today’s day an age, what kids see on TV affects what children want when their older. With this big wedding boom on avenues like TLC and WE, the ideal of a tasteful wedding gown and engagement rings have been modified. Now, because of shows like “Say Yes to the Dress,” and “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” the immense dream is now the glitziest and the biggest wedding gown and engagement rings wins.

Now, I can contest for the engagement rings avenue of this statement. The only times you really see the rocks on these girls fingers is either when they have a rich fiance and have a titanic rock, or they flash it on camera for no reason. However, even these small cases of engagement rings flashing on camera puts a popular in little girl’s heads.

However, the case that really should be uncovered is the glitzy wedding gown shown on TV; more especially on “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.” Now, personally, I have nothing against the gypsy modern society or anything like that. “To each his own I say.” However, have you seen the dresses on that show? They’re the chief, glitziest, and sometimes the tackiest thing I have ever seen.

I am not contrary to glitzy wedding gowns or wedding ball gowns; on “Say Yes to the Dress”, most of them are the most beautiful gowns I have ever seen. However, at minimum those dresses have a line that they do not cross. They are stylish and not as big as small homes or parachutes. They are virtually the Cinderella style dresses set to the max, in a good way.

However, no matter if you like them or not, these shows do set a new standard to the children watching these programs. I may not like the dresses on “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” but that does not mean that others people talk about my opinion. I know people, especially young children, who think that they are the best things since sliced bread. The point is that these shows change the wedding guidelines for the next generation. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is up to the beholder.

The Main Elements of The Perfect Honeymoon

Posted by Dutch Kiesecker

An all inclusive honeymoon is a phrase used to refer to the arrangement in which you and your loved one is made to feel at top of the world and next to gods and goddess while you celebrate your love in a far away corner of the world, lost in each other.

Now if you look at the commercial meaning of the term, it could mean that you get all meals, accommodation and some extra rides and activities, possibly a complementary wine or so, along with your honeymoon package. But an all inclusive honeymoon should not just be about these materialistic things. It should also be about the kind of atmosphere and the vibe that you get in the place that you stay at. So when we talk about all inclusive honeymoons, we are not necessarily looking at how big the bedroom is, how many dishes are served at dinner or how many complementary treats you obtain as part of your package.

The most important reason why couples opt in for all inclusive honeymoons is that they like it to be an all paid super luxury experience where they don’t have to worry about anything else, but about each other. So in order to provide this type of service, a resort or a hotel cannot simply offer a good buffet or a comfortable bed, rather they must be able to provide luxuries that can be felt with both body and soul.

So let’s explore more about what a couple wants in an all inclusive honeymoon.

First of all, the services provided need to exceed the expectations. When a pair is on their honeymoon, they will anticipate being in a place filled with magic. So if you know that your clients are honeymooners, you should not offer standard services but something special that will make them feel at their best.

The ambiance and atmosphere should be romantic enough for the couple to feel safe and close to home while indulging in the love they have for each other. One of the most essential things to provide a couple on an all inclusive honeymoon is privacy. So your property will need to be structured that way.

The staff and how they handle the clients, their regard for the couple and their understanding of how the couple wants to be treated are very important aspects that make an all inclusive honeymoon, indeed all inclusive and luxurious in nature. So as long as a resort could accommodate all these needs, you will be pleased with your destination.

Wedding Rings: A History

Posted by Daniel Delgado

The engagement ring is recognized worldwide. It symbolizes love and the status of a man or woman. Rings can be found in every shape, size, or color. Anything from a simple band of one metal to complex designs and encrusted with jewels. Like they say diamonds are a lady’s best friend. Between the wedding dress, engagement ring, and wedding ring a wedding is full of gifts for the women to enjoy.

The question is where specifically did this tradition originally begin? The better question is where did the whole act of putting a ring on someone’s hand become standard. Believe it or not in the past numerous cultures did not have an engagement period. Back then it was typical for brides to get asked to get married and wed on the same day. The earliest record of wedding rings comes from ancient Egypt where rings of grass and finally metal were exchanged to show that the couple was united as a man and wife.

As time passed, other cultures commenced to interact with the culture of Egypt. A result of that was that the wedding ring began to distribute around the globe. The wedding ring fundamentally was a circle. That was made of either gold or ribbon. The circle has usually symbolized eternity as there is no beginning and no end.

Just like today, the union of man and women was meant to be forever until death. Obviously the circle was a logical shape for a ring to be put on a women’s hand. With that said the next question is, which finger did they used to put the ring on back in the day? In Eastern Orthodox the right ring finger is where the wedding ring is set on. This was because the right hand was always deemed good while the left was regarded as the bad hand.

As far back as historic Egypt the wedding ring has been around. Just like now the wedding ring represented the union between a man and women. Just like back then the ring was round and went on the identical finger. It is clear that weddings symbolize the same thing that they symbolize now. Although the customs might be various as you go through time and cultures, from wedding dresses to wedding rings, at the end of the day the idea is still the same.

My Daughter’s Wedding Gown Plus Other Pricey Items

Posted by Nicholas Jacobellis

Weddings can get quite expensive, and in simple truth if you have a daughter one day she is going to get married. It’s just a fact of life, unless she’s a loner, which is rare. Buying her a wedding gown can turn into an adventure of epic proportions. Even wedding rings can come with a considerable price tag, one which can max out your credit card.

So how do you save funds on a wedding without honestly damaging the whole feel of the wedding itself? This is the question that boggles minds of fathers and grooms across the planet which is another reason why we don’t go picking the wedding gown out with the bride. It’s difficult to figure out sure, but it’s not an impossible task. There are a few ways to save money on a wedding without destroying the wedding as a whole.

One answer would be to go someplace distinctive, fascinating, and not in New York. There are hundreds, if not thousands of places across the United States that are beautiful, and affordable, for half the price of venues in New York. Long Island itself has some of the most expensive weddings, averaging between$40,000 and $50,000 while the national average is $25,000.

An additional way to save some money on a wedding without destroying it is to have a winter wedding party instead of a spring, summer, or autumn one. During the winter month’s weddings drop, winter weddings for some reason are not quite as well liked as summer weddings. So vendors and venues are looking to make deals to fill vacancies in the calendar. Making a winter wedding is a good way to go, and winter months can be just as beautiful as summer months, depending on how you look at it.

Saving cash during a wedding is really hard, but it’s not impossible, so long as the bride confirms to the changes. Of course sometimes they won’t, and will fight you tooth and nail, but when push comes to shove she’s probably going to win. To her it’s her big day, and in a way she is right, she’s been waiting her entire life for this one moment and she’s going to make it the best she can. If you can save a little money maybe the extra funds can go towards the wedding rings.

Styles that people march around in are subjective; people might find said styles to be the most cutting-edge things in the world while others will scoff at how ugly they find them. From a simple shirt and pants hybrid to intricate wedding dresses, there is a certain faux pas or two to be mindful of. Engagement rings, which people may notice promptly, walk a fine line as well. They can either be subdued and sweet or loud and obnoxious and finding a balance might be easier if one looks at some of the rings that simply try too hard.

It’s typical for wedding dresses to be extravagant; while they are fancy, they are only worn for a one-off occasion when the words, “I do,” are uttered. However, the rings given before the big day tend to be loud for much longer thanks to celebrities. Kim Kardashian’s ring, for example, apparently cost her spouse Kris Humphries a pretty penny since it values in at $2 million. The 20.5 carat diamond ring is spectacular in cost, no question about it, but what kind of use does it have outside of looks? Maybe going a few carats less would make it look like less of a radiant eyesore.

Back in 2004, Jennifer Aniston was displaying an engagement ring given to her by Brad Pitt and while this one isn’t as noticeable as Kim’s, it is still a noteworthy piece of jewelry. Apparently, Pitt gave Aniston a ring that has a unique, to say the least, contour and loop to it. This is a case of a ring that isn’t exactly loud in the amount of carats it possesses but the shape it takes on. Just last year, however, Aniston was seen with a new ring that is simpler than the curled rock that once rested on her finger.

In order to find the most ideal engagement rings, a few rules of thumb have to be kept in mind. First variable of note is the style. It’s not too hard to find the right look; a simpler ring might be the best choice and unless the giver is going to make huge strides, going for something along the lines of a heart-shaped gem will seem foolish. The size has to be taken into account as well, though this is more subjective. Some people want to have a diamond on their finger that will catch many eyes once light bounces off of it. These are only a couple of rules to make note of.

Living a lavish lifestyle and holding onto the desire to pay for the best of everything isn’t a crime. However, there has to be a limit as to how much is sufficient to show off before ascending to, simply, too high a level. Celebrity examples such as Kardashian and Aniston show just where one might have to maintain a line not to cross. Not only do celebrities serve as models not to follow to a tee, but there are rules for couples to keep in mind so that they don’t make regretful choices thousands of dollars later.
