If they are too nice to their subordinates they may not be able to get the results that they are looking for. One more good reason to have your employees like you is that they will be less likely to blame you for negative events that happen in the work place. With the number of lawsuits that occur in the United States, this is worth the consideration!

By far the best approach is to find some medium between the two. Take a problem oriented approach because this will help people keep their minds fixed on a collective goal and give their efforts a direction.

Finally, you will need to show your staff that they can and should follow your example. Set the bar high by being a picture of perfection for them to follow and you will have many more successful events.
