Tips for Choosing the Right Wedding Invitations

Posted by Jessica Marie Sullivan

Picking out your wedding invitations is one of the exciting parts in your wedding planning. You’ll want them to look amazing as they announce your special day to your friends and family. It can be a mission to find the perfect invitation, as there are so many designs to choose from. So, here are some useful tips that can help you choose your invitations:

Coordinate the wedding theme to your style of invitations. Give your guests an idea on the general theme and feel of your wedding. Be it a beach wedding or a country wedding; show your wedding theme through your invitations.

You should also consider the type of wedding you’re having. Is it a formal wedding or an informal one? If you’re having a black tie wedding, send out formal invitations. If you’re having an informal wedding, choose a design that’s not too formal.

Try to start looking invitations as early as possible. Choosing invitations may seem so easy, but it really isn’t. There are so many styles for you to choose from that you may need more time to check the pros and cons of each design. Save yourself from panic and worries by starting early.

Think about your wedding colors when choosing invitations. You might want to match your wedding colors to the colors you’re using for your invitations. This will enable the guests to know what your wedding will probably be like. Of course, this is just an option that you could choose. You may wish to choose colors that are different from your wedding colors as well.

Remember to choose the right fonts or calligraphy for your wedding invitations. You should be able to match your font size and style to your wedding style. How you choose your fonts will determine the mood of your invitation and wedding itself. Don’t be afraid to use two kinds of fonts for your invitation, as long as they combine well and can be easy to read. Ask for advice from your invitation maker as to what type of font or calligraphy would match your wedding style.

How much are you willing to spend on your wedding invitation? Consider your budget when choosing invitation design and styles. Wedding invitation prices vary a lot depending on your choice of font, style and stationery.

Your wedding is one of the biggest events of your life. It is important to let your loved ones know how special it is by sending them a well-designed invitation to show how special it is.

Etiquette for Wedding Save the Dates

Posted by Steve Jones

Giving save the dates to your friends and family is actually a relatively recent and growing trend. You will find several benefits to sending out save the dates, the first being that more of your guests are likely to go to your big day. Telling your wedding guests about your big day six-twelve months before your big date, allows them to make traveling arrangements and keep your day from getting scheduled by a different celebration.

Listed below, there are answers to 7 of the most popular questions regarding wedding save the date etiquette.

Do we really need to send save-the-dates? It’s not essential to send cards, magnets or postcards, if however you’d like as many of your invitees as possible to go to the wedding, then you should tell them the date as soon as you can.

Do we need to send save-the-dates to all of our guests?

Okay, so you have decided to send out STDs (and no, not that type). Here’s your (not so gold) star: * for keeping everybody in the know. For people who have an exceptionally tight budget, you should wish to skip those guests that you talk to fairly often including brothers, sisters and friends. Nonetheless, save the date cards are not that expensive so if you’re able to sacrifice the additional $40, then send them to all of your family and friends.

When do you send save the dates? You may send them out whenever you know your date and place, however 6-12 months ahead of your day is afair time-frame.

Note: its going to likely take at least 2 -4 weeks to get your cards or magnets printed and delivered. As a result, make sure to order them no less than thirty days prior to when you would like to mail them to your invited guests.

Who do we address the save the dates to? You need to address the save-the-dates to the individuals whom you intend on inviting to your wedding. So if you intend on just inviting your cousin and her spouse and not their 8 kids, then make sure to be obvious on the save-the-date and not include the names of the children or “and family”. If you have friends that are with someone whom you don’t really know (and wouldn’t be asked on their own), then you should just address the save-the-date for your friend and you’ll add the name of the +1 on the real invitation if they’re still together.

Note: you could add invitees when you send out your invitations however it could be tricky to remove invitees who you’ve sent a save the date to.

How formal should we address the save the dates?

Save the dates are not too formal, but if you’ve picked a more formal design and/or you will be throwing a very formal affair, then addressing them in a formal way is what you want.

For your reference, formal would look something such as this: Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jones.

Informal addressing might read like this: Mike and Stephanie Jones.

Note: Some of your older guests may appreciate a more formal usage of their names than your friends, so you might choose to address your grandparents cards different then how you would address your best friends’.

What if we decide to change the wedding date or location?

This should not be a huge concern as save-the-dates really should be mailed once you have booked (and likely put a first deposit down) on the venue and date. Nevertheless, if it occurs, you can notify your guests of the change on the phone.

Does the bride to be or groom’s name go first on the save the date?

Normally wedding related stationary has the bride’s name first, having said that they are generally informal so you don’t have to be too picky about it.

And lastly, if you have an interest in save the date etiquette, please check out save the dates.

If you are planning your wedding, you want everything about your wedding to reflect your personality and your sense of style. From your wedding dress to your wedding invitations, you want everything about your wedding to be perfect. Today, there are many different styles, colors and textures available for wedding invitations and finding your exact style may take some time. Following are several considerations that can help you find the invitations for your wedding that will reflect the beautiful and stylish person you are.

What is the Setting?

When you are choosing wedding invitations, it may help you to consider the setting of your wedding. Whether you are having a formal wedding or a more casual wedding, there are invitations that reflect that setting. If you are having a formal, black-tie wedding, you may want to consider invitations that are formal as well. If you are having a more casual outdoor wedding, an invitation that is casual may be just your style.

What are your Colors?

Another consideration that can help you find the wedding invitations that are perfect for you are the colors of your wedding. Invitations are available in almost every color you can think of, so matching your invitations to your wedding colors is possible and a great idea. You can also match colors to the theme of your wedding, choosing bright, sunny colors for a summer outdoor wedding or Christmas colors for a Christmas wedding.

What is Your Theme?

You may also want to consider the theme of your wedding when you are picking out your wedding invitations. If you are having a beach themed wedding, you can often find invitations that have pictures of the beach or follow that theme. If you are having a garden theme, you may want to have invitations that have flowers on them to go with the garden theme. Whatever theme you are having at your wedding, you can probably find invitations that complement that specific theme.

Do You Want Photos?

One option you have that will make your wedding invitations unique is having a photo of you and your groom-to-be on the front or inside your invitations. You can choose a simple invitation and have your photo added to make an invitation that your friends and family will treasure.

What is Your Budget?

When choosing your wedding invitations, you also should consider the budget you have. If you are spending more money on your dress, you may have to cut back on the money spent for invitations. Even if you are cutting back on the budget for invitations, there are many great choices that are budget friendly.

Your invitations are one way that you will let your friends and family know about your big day, so you want them to be perfect and a reflection of you and your love. A Dilemma About Wedding Invitations

2067243750 72715f9816 m A Dilemma About Wedding Invitations

You will want to make your wedding really special. In fact, you need to make everything in your wedding perfect and unique to this end. Your wedding reception has to be perfect. You would also like to make your wedding favor perfect. However, some people will allow the wedding invitation to be less perfect for some reasons.

There is no doubt the the cost of the wedding invitation will not be very high when it is compared to the price of your wedding dress or wedding reception catering. Consequently, some couples will tend to forget this important item. When they think that the invitations are too expensive, they may go for some cheaper options. They would rather make their wedding dress perfect rather than making the invitation special. It is very true that couples will just sacrifice the wedding invitation when budget is not allowed. Taking a case in Hong Kong for example, a single pre-wedding photos will probably cost a couple about USD45. Yet they will still purchase a hundred photos. They will do it even if it is out of the budget. However, the couples will never do that when it comes to the wedding invitations.

You may wonder when couples will sacrifice the wedding invitation when budget is not allowed. It is true that the wedding cards will set the tone of the wedding. However, a lot of couples will just think that the guests will just throw away the card after the wedding. As a result, they will think that it will be a waste of money to create a unique and special wedding invitation. If this is totally true, an email wedding invitation will be the perfect solution. Yet most couples will still print their own wedding invitations.

In fact, one of the reasons for this phenomenon is that some couples will think that they can design the wedding invitation themselves. Yes it is true that you can create some graphics on your own with your personal computer home.

It is very true that it will be perfect for the couples to design the wedding invitation. However, it seems that they miss the whole point of wedding invitation design when they are trying to creating some computer files. We have to understand that wedding invitation is not only about graphic design. In fact, it is more than a printable computer files.

One thing we need to understand is that a wedding invitation needs not to be a printed card. You can actually make it a sculpture with three dimensional quality. In this case it will not be only a computer file.

If you are trying to create your own wedding card, you should never just create a computer file. You need to create it with your hand. You may need to learn from Japanese Origami and try to create the wedding invitations yourself. You may even use the same method to create the envelop. Only be this way it is meaningful to create your own wedding invitation.

4328777173 b3cb83f9d5 m Suggestions for Do it yourself Wedding Invitations

For many couples, designing and creating their own wedding invitations is a very enticing concept. Working together to create an invitation that is 100% unique helps the couple feel more like a team, and the idea of creating a beautiful invitation that others can keep as a remembrance of the wedding is a touching gesture.

With all of the planning that is necessary for a wedding, taking on the added task of designing and creating your own wedding invitations may seem like a task to be dreaded rather than enjoyed, but many couples find it to be an enjoyable diversion, and a money saver as well. With so many rules and traditions for the wedding, and so many people pulling in many different directions, the creative outlet of designing and assembling invitations can be therapeutic.

Do it yourself invitations do not have to be difficult or time consuming. Modern home computers, and pre-assembled do-it-yourself invitation kits make the process straightforward. With some patience, even those who do not consider themselves artistic at all can create unique and beautiful wedding invitations.

What types of invitations can you create yourself?

· Photo invitations. There are many ways to add a photograph of you and your fiancé to a wedding invitation. Some do-it-yourself kits are designed so that you can create an overlay of vellum to a photo printed on the invitation paper. To create a finished look, add a bow in a complimentary color. A photo wedding invitation will stand out to your guests from most other wedding invitations they receive, and will really add a personal touch.

· Traditional invitations. If you are interested in traditional invitations, there are many available in do-it-yourself kits. These invitation kits include the invitation card stock, response card stock and envelopes for both. You will decide the wording for the invitation and print the invitations yourself. Most invitation kits are compatible with both ink jet and laser printers.

Benefits of Do-It-Yourself Invitations

There are several reasons why the couple may want to design and put together their own invitations. While money is one consideration, it is not the only one. For many couples, designing and creating their wedding invitations is a fun and romantic way to enjoy the wedding celebration. Rather than the usual process of choosing invitations at the wedding store or online, you and your future spouse can choose the general design, and then work on it together, at home. This allows you to experiment with different fonts, styles and wording choices without the pressure to make a quick decision.

Once you have finalized your choices, you will print the invitations, and assemble them. This can also be a fun activity for the wedding couple, or the bride may choose to invite her bridesmaids over for help. The amount of assembling necessary depends on the cards that you choose. Some will require nothing other than printing and envelope stuffing and addressing, which is the same amount of work as with traditional invitations. Others may require you to fit a sheet of vellum over the top of the invitations and securing it with ribbon. Regardless of the type of invitation that you choose, the kit will come with all of the materials necessary for a completed invitation.

Adding your own personal touch

Even if you purchase a do-it-yourself kit for your invitations you can still personalize even further by adding your own touch and sense of style. Once you have printed your invitations, you can add stamps, ribbon or other ornaments to your wedding invitations. This is a wonderful way to make your invitation 100% unique, while adding a charming, home crafted and personal touch.

Once you have addressed all of the envelopes, you may want to add some decorative touches to the envelopes as well. You can add a monogrammed stamp or a motif, or a more traditional envelope seal. You may also want to add some wedding themed ink stamps to the outside of the envelope for a whimsical look.

You can spend as much or as little time as you like on your do-it-yourself invitations. Of course if your event is smaller in size, designing your own wedding invitations is a much more manageable task, but it can also be done for larger events. Some couples choose to make each invitation unique, with personalized stamps and decorations for each invitation, while others make all the invitations alike, and add nothing extra before putting them in the mail. Whether your goal is simply to save some money or to express your inner artist, creating your own do-it-yourself invitations can be a very rewarding experience.
