One of the many issues of contention when planning your wedding is what wedding theme and style you want. It doesn’t have to be difficult if you just get some wedding styles and ideas to get you inspired.

Firstly, wedding themes and styles don’t have to involve you dressing like Snow White, especially if your fiancé is a little vertically challenged, he won’t see the funny side of being the dwarf that won the day. Below are some wedding themes and ideas to hopefully give you inspiration. Some you will hate but some may just spark things off and get you started.

Space and Science Fiction: If you are into space or the future or even have a favourite Science Fiction series, you can use this to a greater or lesser degree as a theme or style. Star Trek and Star Wars weddings are quite popular these days.

Seaside and Beach: You can focus on sand, seashells, tropical islands or you can go nautical with a ship theme or surfer dude, especially if you are having a wedding in some tropical paradise which is very popular these days.

Animals and Nature: If animals or nature in general are your bag, then you could build a wedding theme around your favourite animals or creatures. Although I wouldn’t choose a Black Widow Spider theme as this might make the groom a little more nervous than he already is.

Culture or Ethnicity: Many people base their wedding theme around their culture or heritage. If you have two different cultures you can mix the two into a quite unique wedding style and if your heritage or traditions are the same then that makes it even easier to work out. This can be quite beautiful as it means a lot to all family members.

Flowers and Favourite Colours: As floral arrangements are an integral part of a wedding it seems natural enough to make the style of the wedding around your favourite colours and flowers.

Historical Themes: If you have a favourite historical era, you can base your wedding around a specific time in history. Such as Egyptian, Roman or one of the many romantic eras in history but don’t choose the Black Death it doesn’t really work for weddings. Unless you’re both Goths I guess.

Fairy Tale or Disney: These are popular themes as in modern times it is quite acceptable for adults to enjoy these fun themes as much as our children do. You might have a dream based on a fairy tale that you might want to act out. Nothing to risqué though, don’t forget your parents will be there.

Sport or Sports Teams: If you are the sporty types and would like to incorporate your favourite team or sport into your wedding theme, this is quite acceptable. You can even get married at football grounds these days. But you both need to feel the same about it or it doesn’t work.

Western Theme: If you are fans of country and western music, why not have a western style wedding theme. The clothes are fun and there is plenty of scope for the reception. There are even places like ‘Little Hollywood’ in Spain where you can have the reception or wedding. Where they filmed ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ it’s a very authentic replica of a western town.

Seasonal Theme: You can build your wedding theme around the season in which it takes place. A winter wedding theme for instance with all whites and silvers or autumn with all the many colours of autumn.

Well, I hope this has given you some inspiration and helped you to realise that wedding themes and ideas aren’t so daunting after all. All you need is a bit of imagination and a theme that means something to you both. If all else fails Google ‘wedding themes’. Good luck and enjoy.

Top Styles of Wedding Invitations

Posted by Admin

4327124010 33737c608b m Top Styles of Wedding Invitations

There are so many styles of wedding invitations available that it can be difficult to narrow down your choices. The invitation will be a keepsake. One day your children will enjoy looking at, so you want it to accurately express you and your fiancé’s personality and style.

Knowing the top styles of wedding invitations and how they are used can help you to make your choice. Wedding invitations are available in classic, contemporary, religious and seasonal designs among others. The decision between these styles comes down to personal preference and how each design will go with the theme of your wedding. If, for example, you are getting married in the church you grew up in, wearing your grandmother’s wedding gown, you may not want to go with a contemporary invitation. Likewise, an autumn wedding, outside, under a canopy of changing leaves probably calls for a seasonal invitation.

Choosing the paper

The most popular types of paper for invitations may surprise you. For a more casual look consider cotton or linen paper. Each of these papers have their own unique look and feel, If you are unfamiliar with the different types of paper, consider visiting your local bridal shop to look at and touch each type of paper before you make up your mind. For a green, eco-friendly wedding, great looking wedding invitations can be made from recycled paper, not sacrificing any elegance or class.

If your wedding is formal, linen paper is still a good choice. Other types of paper that work well in a formal wedding are parchment, vellum, textured paper and paper with a deckle-edge. Of course, if your wedding is extremely formal, or, if you just have a taste for something different, there are many varieties of handmade and hand-painted paper available that are beautiful and unique.

Choosing the ink

Again, the color of ink that you choose for your invitations is often dictated by the formality of the wedding. The popular choices for casual weddings are black and gray, or one of your wedding colors. For more formal occasions, choosing one of your wedding colors is acceptable, or you may wish to choose a metallic ink, such as copper, gold or silver. The look of a metallic ink, backed by black ink is another popular and attractive choice.

Choosing the font

If you plan to put together do-it-yourself wedding invitations, most kits have several fonts to choose from. While traditional printing methods limit the number of fonts, current technology offers many options for personalizing wedding invitations. Some popular font styles are Antique Roman, Finehand and Rookscript, but the choices here really are endless.

Popular additions

Your invitation choice will affect many parts of your wedding. All of the paper material that will be used at your wedding can be ordered to match your invitations. The list of items that will be included with your invitation adds up quickly. In the envelope with your invitation, you will include a response card and envelope. The envelope is traditionally printed with the bride’s address, and includes a stamp, to make responding as simple as possible. You may also want to include a reception card in the invitation envelope. This card will give the details to the reception, and use the same card stock, font and colors as the invitation. If you have guests arriving from out of town, you may also choose to enclose a direction card, providing directions to the ceremony location, and an accommodation card. This is a card for those who will need overnight lodging. It includes information about local choices in hotels, or, if you have secured a special rate at a specific hotel, information on how they should make their reservations.

There are other cards that you will use at your wedding. While these are not included in the invitation, they can also be made to coordinate. A save the date card is a card that goes out early, before the invitation, telling others that an invitation is forthcoming. They are especially useful if you are getting married at a busy time of the year. Thank you cards are an important part of the wedding, and they, too, can be ordered to coordinate with your invitations.

Cards that many people choose to use at their reception include table cards, place cards, escort cards and menu cards. All of these are not necessary, but they add a nice touch. Table cards are used to identify each table and go nicely with escort cards. Escort cards are displayed at the entrance to the reception. Each person finds their escort card, which tells them where they will be seated. The table cards make identifying that location easier. Place cards identify where each person will sit, and menu cards, as the name implies, let your guests know what is on the menu.

3470540492 cf02d70aab m Winter Wedding Invitations: Many Styles to Choose From

Many brides choose winter dates when planning their big day for a variety of reasons. For instance, if they have a favorite winter holiday, it is not uncommon to plan a big event to coincide with that. If families live a distance apart from where the wedding is going to be held, holiday weddings can be a way to bring the family together at times when they would normally be travelling to be together anyway. For other brides, winter is a favorite time of year, between the brisk chill in the air and the beauty of snow drifts. For whatever reason you have chosen to have a winter wedding, you can find many different styles of winter wedding invitations to choose from.

When planning the theme for your wedding day, you may find that the sights and sounds of winter are the most obvious choice. In order to coordinate your invitations with your winter wedding theme, you may need to find the perfect stationery that represents winter. Fortunately, there are many different styles to choose between for this large decision.

One of the easiest ways to represent the winter season in your wedding invitations is through the color of cardstock that you use. Although many wedding invitations are traditionally white or off-white, it is perfectly acceptable to use nearly any color of card stock for your stationery. A light blue could represent the brisk blue skies associated with winter. Reds and greens can help show the proximity of your wedding date to Christmas. Deep reds, oranges and greens are colors typically associated with a wedding around the holiday of Thanksgiving. Carefully consider the overall theme of your wedding to find the right colors to use.

Another way to represent the winter season in your wedding invitations is by having watermarks added to your stationery. Think about the images that best remind you of the winter season. You can add them as a subtle design to nearly any stationery, even combining the colors of winter with a watermarked image. Watermark images can be a very subtle way to remind your guests of the winter theme for your wedding. An example of wedding stationery utilizing a winter theme may have snowflakes along with a light blue color around the invitation.

If you prefer more overt images, you can select pre-designed wedding invitations that have been printed with wintry scenes. From falling snow to intricate snow flakes to leaves and traditional images associated with winter holidays, you can find pre-designed wedding invitations that suit any desire. Many wedding invitation designers have developed entire lines of winter-related stationery, so that you can use a consistent theme with your wedding invitations, envelopes, reply cards and other related paper products.

If you cannot find a pre-designed wedding invitation that perfectly suits your needs, you can work to design your own. Many stationery businesses have templates that you can use in order to pick the type of paper, colors, images and fonts to create the perfect invitations for your big event. These templates include many different options for each choice that you have to make; this allows you to create nearly any design that you have in mind.

If you are creative, another option you can choose is to create your own wedding invitation. When you start from scratch on your own, you can literally design every single aspect of your winter wedding invitations. One idea if you create your own wedding invitations are to use pre-designed paper or paper that already has a pattern, and the rest of the invitation can be created on your own. Another idea is to use special add-ons instead of having flat paper invitations. Special add-ons allow you to emphasize the unique nature of your invitations. For instance, you can have a vellum sheet over the actual invitation, giving a glazed look and held in place by a winter-designed ribbon.

You have so many different options to consider when you are choosing your winter wedding invitations. You simply need to evaluate your own design needs and how unique you want your invitations to be and you will find the perfect solution. For no-fuss, no-muss weddings, pre-designed invitations can be your best bet. If you are crafty, consider designing your own invitations. In between, there are so many ideas you can consider for working with a stationery business to put together the right invitations for your big event.

There are many options available when planning for a winter wedding. Several colors to consider are green, white, red or orange. These colors help emphasize the winter holidays while providing a gentle design. An invitation design can be purchased at any stationery store or you can design your own invitations. Whichever option you choose, these winter styles can help you find the right design for your wedding.

2568946641 5c1e43486e m Wedding Dress Styles Choosing the Right One

Choosing a wedding dress is probably one of the most time consuming and difficult things for a bride to do. There are so many styles to choose from that it can be quite overwhelming. When you break it all down, there are basically 5 choices, the A-Line or Princess, Empire, Column, Ball Gown and Mermaid.

A-Line or Princess Style

This is a great dress that is suitable for most body types. The way the dress is made gives the impression of height and is good for the bride who wishes to look taller. The cut also helps to make the bride look slimmer which is a bonus. The style means that there is a full skirt and the whole dress is very versatile. It accentuates the best bits of your body and hides the others!

Empire

This is a very good dress again for most body types but especially good for those women with a smaller bust or those with a larger bust. This is because the dress brings the focus of attention to around the neckline. With some jewellery here, the effect is increased and the neckline becomes the centre of attention.

Column

The column style dress is quite well fitting and is more suitable for the slimmer lady. It is not the most forgiving so if you have body areas that are perhaps a little larger than you are happy with, this dress will not do well to hid it. Due to the hugging nature of the dress, it will make the bride look taller, the downside is that it can be a little harder to move in!

Ball Gown

This style of dress is good for the slimmer bride and also for those who do not wish to show off the leg area too much. The way the dress fans out at the bottom does not show off the legs at all but the centre of focus if at the upper half of the body. This style is also probably not best suited to shorter women as it can look proportionally unequal.

Mermaid

This style of dress is best suited to the slender bride as it does show off the figure and does not look flattering for those who do not enjoy their body curves. There are a range of styles to choose form and you can see if there is one for you.

Just remember that once you have decided upon your dress, you need to invest in the proper dress storage box for it otherwise you risk ruining your investment in many years time through fabric degradation.

We often forget that while weddings are one of the most fabulous and special moments of a couple’s life, they can also be very stressful, especially when it comes to choosing the gown. Many brides begin their search for that perfect dress even before a ring is on their finger, which is why it is always helpful to be aware of the top designer wedding dress styles.

Deciding which designer wedding dress style to go with can be a very, very difficult decision for a bride-to-be. This decision, although quite fun in the making, can be very daunting and can end up leading to major frustration and even some inevitable “bridezilla” moments for the most subdued and organized bride. If there is anything any wedding needs less, it is an unhappy bride.

We have all heard that the wedding dress is the highlight of the day, of course aside from seeing the blushing bride make her entrance and way down the aisle. So much emphasis and importance is placed on the wedding dress, the bride may end up feeling a lot of pressure when it comes time to make that important decision. The secret to finding the right designer wedding dress is to find one that you can afford that also makes you feel happy and beautiful while flattering your figure.

Why Choose a Designer Wedding Dress

Choosing to go for a designer wedding dress is a great way to obtain the perfect wedding gown. Working one-on-one with the designer will allow you to feel in control of what you are getting, in control of your finances, and in control of the overall look and style of your dress. While the designer will do most of the hard work, he or she will work closely with you to make sure that you are happy and love the gown for your big day.

If you are going to choose a designer wedding dress for your special day, it is imperative that you think about the different dress styles before you even walk through the designer’s door. One of the most important things to consider when choosing a designer wedding dress is your personal style and taste. There are so many different designer wedding dress styles to choose from that you may just need to flip through some wedding magazines before speaking to your designer.

How Designer Wedding Dresses Differ

Today, simple and elegant bridal gowns are very much the norm with less emphasis placed on excessive beading and embellishments. This is not to say that these designer wedding dress styles are boring and bland. It is actually quite the opposite. With simple and elegant dress styles, it is all about the fabric and the color. Wispy silk chiffon in layers of ivory and white give spring brides the ethereal look of a garden fairy. Colorful silk gowns allow for winter brides to pop with beauty and individuality.

While the color and fabrics of designer wedding dresses change from season to season, the main styles do not. If you are the type of bride that loves the “tried and true” looks always keep these classic designs in mind. The a-line, or princess, the ball gown, the sheath, the empire, and the mermaid are all designer wedding dress styles that will never go out of fashion. The secret to which is best for you will always be determined by which one makes you feel the prettiest and which one flatters your figure the most.

Getting a Deal on Designer Wedding Dresses

Regardless of which designer wedding dress style you end up choosing, getting a deal is always a welcome attribute of the experience. We all know that a custom-made designer wedding dress can cost a pretty penny, so why not shop around. Visit a local designer or dressmaker and see if they have any floor samples or runway samples that can be sold for a reduced price.

If you have already found the designer dress of your dreams but it is too far out of your price range, why not take a photograph (from a magazine, for example) to a dressmaker and see if he or she can make their own version of it. There is no shame in saving money on your wedding dress, and it’s great to know that you can get a beautiful designer wedding dress even if you’re on a budget. Every woman deserves to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world on her wedding day, and as long as your wedding dress makes you feel like a beautiful bride, there is no reason not to choose the most elegant designer wedding dress available.

589751652 9a35d9c1fe m Romantic Styles for Personalized Wedding Invitations

There are many styles of romantic wedding invitations and it primarily comes down to personal preference. This preference can dictate which romantic invitations are chosen for the ceremony. You can take the classic route or a modern one and still have wonderfully romantic and personalized invitations that you can cherish for the rest of your lives. The best way to personalize your wedding invitations and make them especially romantic is to really sit down and plan them out; and remember, there is no need to have anyone tell you what is or is not romantic.

The colors that you choose for your wedding invitations set the mood for the entire wedding celebration. By the time you have begun designing your wedding invitations, if you have not yet settled on a color scheme, it is now the perfect time. Romantic and personalized wedding invitations can coordinate with the overall theme of the wedding. If, for example, the bridesmaid dresses are lavender, you may opt for wedding invitations that complement that color scheme. Perhaps going with some deep purples with wisteria accents is the way to go.

The embellishments that you choose to personalize your wedding invitations are also very important in making them romantic. The most common embellishment for a traditionally romantic wedding invitation is the ribbon. The ribbon that you choose for your wedding invitations should coordinate with your wedding scheme but it should also be delicate as well as tasteful. Silk and organza ribbons work well for romantic wedding invitations. The color of your ribbon should complement the rest of the invitation and coordinate with your entire wedding color scheme.

Furthermore, you may choose to embellish your invitations with elements like buttons and stitching in place of the ribbon. Whimsical embellishments such as these give your wedding a personalized feel, romantic look, and can be an excellent first introduction of your wedding to each of your guests. Hand tying ribbons as well as hand-stitching threads and buttons to your invitations are also great representations of your devotion to each other and can be evident to each invited guest.

The construction of the invitation is also integral to how personalized and romantic the invitations are. Good quality paper stock, vellum, and even some sparkle are key ingredients for personalized invitations. It mostly comes down to how these items are used on the invitation to determine how romantic the invitation is after it is completed. Taking the time and effort to plan different layers of the paper sheets can lend to a romantic, traditional, or a modern feel. Single layers of cardstock and paper give an air of simplicity. Wedding invitations with several layers of paper, vellum, and cardstock are apparent in more intricately designed romantic invitations.

When designing your wedding invitations, the overall look and construction is vastly important to how personalized and romantic they are, but the wording is also essential. While traditional invitation wording is perfectly acceptable, it is not as romantic as some couples would like. In an effort to make your wedding invitations more personalized and romantic, you may want to think about including a poem or perhaps even song lyrics that are special to you and your soon-to-be spouse.

While many couples may find traditional wording much more appropriate, there are couples who enjoy taking a risk together. The poem chosen for the invitation does not need to be written by a famous poet, it can even be something that the two of you made up together. The wording of your wedding invitation should always suit your personal style and most importantly show everyone how in love you two are!

There are many ways to personalize your wedding invitations and increase the amount of romantic wording or accessories included in the invitation. The design of the invitation itself, your choice of color, paper, embellishments, and wording are all crucial to making the invitation truly your own. There are even small things you can do to personalize the invitation. One small thing that you can do is to choose specific stamps for your invitations and RSVP cards. Remember, you do not need to choose the “Love” stamps most couples do. There are so many postage choices out there today that the possibilities are virtually endless. You may even consider choosing a great picture of the two of you and print your own postage!

No matter what route you take when designing your wedding invitations, as long as you put effort and a little thought into it, there is no question that it should be romantic and personalized. Just remember, your wedding is all about the love that the two of you share, so anything you put out there should be romantic! In addition, always remember to keep a copy of the invitation for your wedding scrapbook!
