Nothing could, or should be more personal than your wedding.

This day is yours, and you have the chance to make it uniquely special, a day filled with cherished memories, rather than just social traditions.

Remember this- you and your intended are the only 2 people that matter, when planning your wedding.

Family and friends may be full of suggestions, they may also have different expectations than your own, regarding how your wedding should go.

You have the right to make this day your very own, either by cutting out traditions that don’t feel right or by adding your own special touches of individuality to the ceremony, and the reception.

In searching for creative ways to personalize your wedding, the best place to look is within yourself.

-What are the most meaningful places to you and your partner? Can one of those special places be the site of the wedding, or the reception?

-What are some of your interests? If you met at a chess match, for instance, why not have your wedding reflect this theme? Your wedding day should be fun, and no-one says that it has to be a “traditional” ceremony anymore. Be creative in theme, and in-cooperate those things that have a special meaning to you. Some ideas might be:

- Classic movie themes- like Casablanca, or Key Largo, or even the Wizard of Oz. These types of wedding themes can present tons of ideas for creating a special ceremony that includes a lot of fun in the process.

- Romantic themes, such as moonlight, or glittering stars can add glamor and fun to a wedding.

- Favorite games or pass times, including cards (and everything can come up hearts or diamonds today) or dice, (go black and white) checkers, chess or whatever else you and your intended can come up with.

- Where are you going on your honeymoon? Romantic destinations can be as much a part of the wedding as the honeymoon. “An Evening in Paris” or “A Romantic Cruise Through Life” are ideas for in-cooperating significant places into your wedding theme.

- Holidays also make great themes. A Christmas wedding, a Valentines Day Wedding, or a Sweetheart’s Day Wedding are examples of Holiday themes you could use.

The place…

Instead of a traditional church wedding, many couples opt to have their wedding at a place that is special to them. Consider some of the following:

- A beach

- A park

- Someone’s home or backyard

- A place that is symbolic to both of you, a memorial, or landmark might be considered

- A place that has significance in your lives, the place you met, or the place where you became engaged are ideas for this

Colors…

Color is one way many people express their individuality.

Express yourself by choosing the colors that are most meaningful to you, and don’t be restrained by traditional concepts of colors for weddings. Bright vibrant colors, soft romantic colors, or even neutral, calming colors can all find a place into your wedding scheme.

Extras-

Flowers, balloons, streamers and other decorations can be as unique as you want them to be.

Other ideas-

Instead of having the wedding guests throw rice, there are many creative ways to “send off the bride and groom.”

-dove release

-butterfly release

-balloon release

-or theme related items

The Get-Away

Traditionally a bride and groom will leave the wedding location in a limousine. There are many other options for you two to “ride off into the sunset”

-horse drawn carriage

-red convertible

-motorcycle

-hot-air balloon

-the grooms, beloved, beat-up pick-up truck
